Bust the Plateau!

Hello and Welcome Back to Munch on Celery!

This morning it is nice and sunny here but we have had our fair share of rain, apparently we had a record rainfall for July and sadly our daily rain showers / thunderstorms have followed us into August.  (Sigh)

Today I am going to talk about plateaus as I have been on one for about a month now.  I am very close to losing thirty pounds but it hasn’t been easy plus  I have hit a plateau and it has been frustrating as I struggle to get the scale to move.   Therefore, I have decided to focus on what would work for me.  So here are some of the things that I have started to do since the beginning of August:

  1.  For the Weight Watchers plan I have gone back to the basics and I weigh, track, and measure everything that I eat.
  2. Drinking more water
  3. Taking longer walks with the dog.
  4. Added Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred dvd to my repertoire.  I started day 1 yesterday and today I am sore but I am determined to complete the 30 days.may day tree in bloom

I am hoping that by accomplishing those four steps I can bust the plateau that I am on and hopefully I will see results on the scale.

I thought I would also share some favorite websites that I stumbled upon lately.  Honestly, there are some great websites that share wonderful recipes if you search Google, Pinterest, Twitter, Facebook, Bloglovin, & Instagram.  I am sure there are others  but these are the ones that I follow on a regular basis.

Being on Weight Watchers and having family members that are borderline diabetics or even diabetics I have been searching and I have found some great websites that really focus on “low carbs”.   I have adopted the low carb method most of the time but I will admit that I do like to have a baked potato once in a while or even some french fries – yes I said it french fries.  Being on a diet  oops I meant to say adopting a lifestyle change doesn’t mean that you have to deprive yourself of foods that you like you just have to learn to eat in moderation.   I also realize that when you are a borderline diabetic or even a diabetic it is just more than changing a few things in your diet you constantly have to watch your carbohydrate intake.

I have visited a couple of great sites lately that really hone in on the low carb revolution.  I talked about one such website a few posts back called All Day I Dream About Food and and new site that I just found called Ditch the Carbs.  Ditch the Carbs site has a menu selection called “New Here?” which I have checked out and within that section she has Why How and Top 10 Videos which I hope to check out soon.  She also has an extensive list of recipes.  Last week she posted a low carb Lemon Meringue Pie recipe that I am just itching to try out when it isn’t so hot out.  Check out her website I am sure that you will be pleasantly surprised as to the wealth of information she share on her site.

Another favorite site of mine is SkinnyTaste.  Admittedly, I have yet to make anything from their site but I hope to make something from their site soon. Last week she posted Tomato Tuna Melts which look yummy and delicious.  If you travel to her site you can select “special Diets” tab at the top and she has a broken down her recipes into different categories and she does have a low carb section plus a  section for people on the Weight Watchers plan.

Well I hope that you found my blog interesting today and that you will check out some of the useful links that I have provided.  Please feel free to leave any comments that you may have.

Have a great day!

The Lemon Meringue pie does look good, never thought I’d see that as low carb. Not so sure about chocolate recipes as they contain caffeine…
